John founded the construction company Nichols Construction Team in 1983 with his father Jim and his brother Brad. John has more than 40 years of construction experience. As president and CEO, John oversees all business operations as well as the overall construction management process ensuring that day-to-day operations meet or exceed the expectations of their clients. John manages all pre-construction services (budgets, estimates, value engineering), evaluates the client’s needs, develops project delivery strategies and obtains all necessary approvals. Leveraging his depth of experience and network, John helps clients find and acquire public incentive funding, as well as all available energy and utility grants and abatements. Clay joined the Team in 1998. He earned his B.S. in Accounting from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and is an expert in construction cost accounting. We approach all projects on an “open book” basis with clients. This has led Clay to develop project cost accounting records that are clear, concise and easily understood. Partner Chief Operations Officer, Team Safety Officer
Ric joined Nichols Construction Team in 1991. He brings over 35 years of strategic planning and operational leadership experience to the team. During his tenure he has been responsible for leading and directing various projects and company operations. Today Ric is responsible for operational leadership and driving the strategic plan to advance the company’s mission and objectives. His belief is that it is absolutely critical that we are able to turn on a dime and provide quality construction services for our customers no matter how big or how small the project is. Ric’s most recent projects include St Jerome’s, Konar Flex 2, Vuzix, and Progressive Insurance. Jim joined the Team in 1997. Jim has had a prolific 28+ year career in the construction industry highlighted by a progressive path of leadership and accountability, culminating in the promotion to VP of Project Management / Senior Project Manager for Nichols Construction Team. Jim’s portfolio includes Rochester Precision Optics, Trinity Montessori School, WXXI and all Harley School projects. Bert joined the Team in 1995. Bert’s core area of expertise is in interior renovations. Bert has a keen eye for helping to bring a client’s concept to life. Bert ensures that clients are not inconvenienced by our presence while we are performing the renovation. Brian joined the team in early 2016 hailing all the way from the Boston, MA area and comes with 18 years of experience working in commercial, retail and residential construction management. As a Project Manager and Estimator Brian oversees various projects for the Team and works closely with our superintendents to make sure every project goes smoothly and according to plan. David is the most recent member of the Nichols Team, hired as a Project Manager/Estimator. David brings over 20 years of working knowledge in the Construction Industry and is a 2011 Executive MBA graduate from the Saunders School of Business at RIT. He has worked on projects in the Healthcare Industry, Historical Rehabilitations, as well as vast experience in Commercial, Retail and Residential construction. David is also in the process of updating his LEED AP credentials and we look forward to adding that to the Nichols Team as another value we can offer our clients. Mark joined us in April 2013. As Chief Estimator, his responsibilities include assisting in the coordination of all preconstruction and estimating services for commercial construction projects, ensuring the cost-effectiveness and timely completion of each project. Mark has over 20-years of experience in construction project estimating and management. He has experience serving: hospitality, office, retail, medical, education, industrial, and multi-family residential markets. Ray joined the Team in 1990. He has earned an industry-wide reputation for his depth of construction knowledge, fairness and fortitude in the pursuit of meeting all project objectives. Ray is the on-site field superintendent who makes certain that everything happens according to plan. Ray’s area of expertise is in the industrial and transportation markets. Chip joined our construction company in 1995, bringing tremendous trade artistry to the team. A hands-on superintendent, Chip possesses specialized expertise in the areas of sitework, foundations, and specialty concrete work. Whenever one of our clients requires a concrete pad built to precise specifications, Chip always leads the effort. He also leads our site-cast Concrete Tilt-up crew. David joined our construction company in 1991 and supervises all aspects of project site improvements. Grading, paving, and utility installations are David’s core focus. He is a master of project site management and logistics. Construction projects are extremely active places, with people and equipment moving about continuously. David coordinates site protocols and traffic flows, facilitating smooth operations and a safer jobsite. Dan joined the Team in 2005 as an interior renovation specialist. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to complete the job with minimal disruption to the clients operations. Dan educates himself in the protocols of the project environment and integrates his work seamlessly into that project environment – even if it means working “off” hours. Michael O’Connor began his career at the Nichols Team in 1999 as a carpenter’s helper and through dedicated effort became a highly skilled craft worker with cross-functional capabilities. One of Michael’s specialties is working in occupied environments. He schedules and manages his work in order to cause minimal disruption to our Customers. We have received numerous compliments on Michael’s ability to get a project done with great care given to the occupants needs. He has been engaged in wide diversity of projects including retail, commercial, education, worship, hospitality, senior housing and many other unique installations. Steve is the newest member of the Team – having joined us in May 2017.
Steve brings over 20 years of construction experience to our firm, having supervised a wide and diverse range of commercial and industrial projects including retail, medical office, food service and multi-family.
Steve is a focused, hands-on Superintendent. He is passionate about achieving all project objectives – including the completion of all projects with a solid record of safety. Steve’s professional history is highlighted by a spotless safety record.
Steve is currently supervising construction of the 30,000 sq ft addition to Creative Food Ingredients in Perry, New York.
